My love for hip-hop came to be because of my mother, Lynn Hunter. When I was a kid, my mom used to take me to the local park. She was a big handball player and tennis player so she always used to go there to work on her game while I played in the playground.

One weekend we went, there was a huge softball game in the park. There were people in the stands. They were selling food. They even had a DJ with a huge speaker setup. This was how I first found out about hip-hop and I was hooked. My mom noticed where my attention was so the next available day off she had, she took me to her friend's record shop on Sutphin Boulevard by the train station. It was there I would get my first mixtape. I played it until it popped.

For years, I used to stay up on weekends and listen to Red Alert on KISS-FM and later Funkmaster Flex on Hoy 97. Hip-hop became a huge part of who I was and living in the city where it all started was top notch.

This record is a tribute instrumental to bring me memories of my childhood and early adult life.
